Want to watch Indian TV shows, films and originals abroad without needing an Indian phone number? JioHotstar Canada offers a straightforward route: sign up with an email address and pay with an international credit or debit card, including one issued outside Canada.
The Canadian service is restricted by location. With StreamLocator, you can access JioHotstar Canada from abroad, create your own Canadian subscription and start watching. It is a useful option for Indian expats, travellers and anyone who enjoys Indian entertainment.
For many viewers overseas, subscribing is as much of an obstacle as the location restriction. You may want familiar Indian programmes but no longer have access to the phone number or payment details needed for an Indian account.
JioHotstar Canada makes that part easier. You can create an account with your email and use a card from outside Canada. There is no need for an Indian mobile number or a Canadian-issued card.
That makes the Canadian version worth considering whether you have moved abroad, are travelling, or simply want Indian entertainment without arranging local signup details. StreamLocator handles access to the Canadian service; you subscribe directly to JioHotstar for the content.
Previously called Hotstar Canada, the service became JioHotstar on 2 September 2026. Its international entertainment offering launched with more than 160,000 hours across over 12 languages, covering television, films, originals, reality shows and regional programming.
The announced lineup includes originals such as Asur, Criminal Justice, Special Ops and Aarya, alongside films including 12th Fail, Chhichhore and Kesari Chapter 2. Daily television includes shows from Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha and Star Pravah.
For viewers keeping up with familiar serials, the Canadian offering includes before-TV access to selected programmes such as Anupama and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Programme availability and release schedules can change, so check the Canadian catalogue for the title you want.
Bigg Boss is another reason to consider the Canadian version. JioStar's international launch announcement includes six language editions, live voting and a 24/7 live feed for Canadian viewers. It also advertises seven-day early access to Bigg Boss Hindi relative to its TV broadcast.
If you follow the show from overseas, those features give you more to explore than the main episodes alone. Set JioHotstar to Canada with StreamLocator and use your Canadian subscription to access the editions and feeds currently offered.
StreamLocator has tested email signup and payment with a non-Canadian card on the new JioHotstar Canada service.
Once StreamLocator is set up for Canadian access, open the Canadian website, register using your email address, choose a subscription and enter your international credit or debit card details. You do not need to borrow an Indian phone number or arrange Canadian banking details to follow this signup route.
Make sure you are subscribing to the Canadian version. The country of the service determines which subscription and catalogue you receive, even when your payment card was issued somewhere else.
The two versions share a brand, but they have separate subscriptions and different catalogues. Canada is a practical choice for Indian entertainment and straightforward overseas signup. The Indian version has its own content offering and account requirements.
An Indian subscription does not unlock JioHotstar Canada, and a Canadian subscription does not unlock the Indian service. The Canadian offering focuses on Indian entertainment and does not include the Disney and HBO catalogue available through the Indian version.
If you already have an Indian account and want to keep using that subscription, follow our guide to watching JioHotstar India abroad. If you prefer the Canadian signup route, create a separate Canadian subscription.
Treat JioHotstar Canada as an entertainment subscription. Its September 2026 international launch excluded live sports, and our research found no confirmed Canadian cricket additions since then. Do not buy the Canadian subscription expecting IPL, WPL, Indian national-team cricket, Premier League football or Wimbledon coverage.
Sports rights are sold by territory. Accessing Canada with StreamLocator gives you the Canadian catalogue; it does not add sports licensed for the Indian version. For a particular competition, check the broadcaster and service holding the rights before subscribing.
JioHotstar Canada costs C$19.99 every three months or C$49.99 per year, according to JioStar's pricing following the September 2026 relaunch. No monthly plan is available.
The annual plan works out to approximately C$4.17 per month and costs C$29.97 less than four quarterly payments at the listed rates. It is billed annually, rather than monthly. Check the checkout total for applicable taxes and current offers.
JioHotstar and StreamLocator are separate subscriptions. StreamLocator's 7-day free trial covers StreamLocator access; it does not include a free JioHotstar subscription.
StreamLocator supports JioHotstar Canada through DNS and the StreamLocator apps. Choose the setup that suits your device or home network, then open the Canadian JioHotstar website or app and sign in.
Your viewing device also needs to support JioHotstar itself. If the Canadian app is not listed in your app store, contact StreamLocator support for guidance on your device. You can also use the website on a supported browser.
