What is Shudder, and how can I watch it?

Backed by AMC Networks, Shudder is a niche streaming service like no other. It’s a premium video-on-demand service dedicated to horror, thrillers, suspense and supernatural fiction.

It offers a vast selection of high-quality, spine-tingling movies, TV series and plenty of original content. You'll get all the latest exclusives, right back to the all-time classic greats from way-back-when.

Shudder’s interface provides collections of genres under a wide range of headings, so you can really pinpoint where your tastes lie and keep digging in for more of the same.

Slashers, haunted houses, demons, devilspossessions, zombies and more. This specialist channel has everything from the most bang up-to-date to the vintage shockers our parents grew up being terrified of.

Maybe you’d prefer to search their murky depths by writer, director or star? You won’t be disappointed. From John Carpenter and Wes Craven to Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick, there’s no shortage of macabre to keep the most bloodthirsty entertained.

Whatever you’re looking for, this is a streaming service that invests in original content as well as proudly promoting the classics. It streams podcasts, promotes watch-lists from some of its favorite guest curators, and drops new releases almost every week.

How can I watch Shudder with StreamLocator?

You need to be in the USA to access Shudder and its selection of TV shows and movies, so that’s just where StreamLocator makes you appear.

Our smart router creates an alternative location for you, so Shudder’s servers can permit you to start streaming.

No complicated settings or software installation required

Unlike other systems, there isn’t any software to install. We know that can be a headache for those who use a range of devices to access online programming. Also, we don’t need you to amend your DNS settings or create new profiles.

We don’t need you to do anything complicated in the slightest.

Because StreamLocator works as a plug-and-play system with your WiFi router, it means that any of your Internet-enabled equipment or devices will automatically take advantage of the location switching it provides. That’s your Mac, your PC, your Apple and Android smartphones, games consoles, tablets, as well as your Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV systems too.

The StreamLocator Hub ships to you when you subscribe. Once set-up, it’s always on and working in the background; it won’t impact your Internet speed or any of your day-to-day online activities.

It can be accessed from anywhere in your home and by as many users as you need. Each one can take advantage of a different location for a different service. StreamLocator manages all of your devices at the same time, so nobody misses a thing.

How to watch Shudder from outside the USA

Streaming service providers, like Shudder, use geolocation technology to locate their users to make sure they’re in the USA. If they’re not, sadly, then the content is blocked or redirected to an appropriate platform.

To view Shudder from outside the USA or one of the other countries where the platform is active, you’re going to need to find a way to appear where they need you to be.

How to register for Shudder from outside the USA

If you don’t have a US credit card, paying for your Shudder subscription can be an issue. The sign-up process, at least, should be a piece of cake with your StreamLocator router managing your location.

The way to get around the payment issue is to sign-up for an account via the US App Store or US iTunes. Alternatively, you can purchase your subscription as an add-on for your US Amazon Prime account.

You’ll still need an American payment method via the different app stores, but you should be able to buy native US Gift Cards from resellers (never from Apple, Google or Amazon), and they should accept your foreign cards or PayPal account.

Do you need a VPN or DNS to watch Shudder from outside the USA?

To access Shudder from outside of the USA, you will need to provide a US location, and that means using a VPN, DNS switcher, or something just like them.

A lot of the streaming providers are aware of these technologies and are creating more ways to detect and reject those accessing the service from outside the US. Unfortunately, that means some VPNs will work with some servers and not with others. It’s a gamble knowing which one could be the best service for you.

That’s where StreamLocator is different. Our system uses a mix of bang-up-to-date technologies so we can give the servers just what they need. That’s why we’ll get access to all of the channels, all of the time. And without the hurdles you have to jump through using VPN or Smart DNS systems.

Our smart hub communicates with the servers to make sure it provides the correct location to free their content, and without you even knowing it’s doing it.

How to unblock Shudder

Our system is designed to be simple. Once it’s set up, it will work with any device you need. So, when you buy a new tablet, laptop or viewing box, there’s no updates or software to dig out and apply.

It’s as simple as plugging our router box into your existing WiFi router—any open port is fine. There are a few simple steps to activate your account, and once you’ve sorted that you’ll see a new network in your WiFi options. Switch over to STREAMLOCATOR from your usual choice, and that’s it!

Pull up the Shudder app or head over to their website, and all of that restricted media will be ready and waiting!

Does StreamLocator allow me to watch Shudder for free?

Shudder is a subscription service, and no matter where you’re viewing it from, it will stay that way. You may be able to access Shudder as a free add-on with some existing providers, but as far as StreamLocator bypassing the subscription—we’re afraid that’s out of our hands.
