CTV is the most popular privately owned television network in Canada. The top-rated network in the nation, it features a wide selection of television programming including 24-hour news, dramas, comedies, sitcoms, movies, and famous reality TV like Shark Tank.
All of these options are available live and on-demand for free.
However, they’re only available to Canadians; you’ll need to change your virtual location using StreamLocator to access CTV. If you don’t change your location, you’ll be blocked from using CTV and streaming hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Young Sheldon, Masterchef, and Call Me By Your Name.
Once you’ve changed your device’s location to Canada, you’ll be able to sign up for a free CTV account. You’ll see an option to log in with a TV provider, and another option below to create an account. Creating an account does not require a TV provider or any payment whatsoever.
Although most CTV content doesn’t require a TV provider, some shows may be restricted to viewers with a TV provider.
CTV is only available for viewers located in Canada. Using StreamLocator, you’ll be able to make your device appear to be in Canada, allowing you to access it.

CTV uses geolocation tracking to ensure that its website is not being accessed by anyone outside of Canada. It does this pretty simply, by checking your device’s IP to see if it’s located in Canada.
To communicate to CTV servers that you’re located in Canada, you’ll need to use StreamLocator or a VPN. StreamLocator “tells” CTV servers that you are located in Canada by showing them a Canadian IP. The cool thing about StreamLocator is that it only does this when you’re accessing CTV - all of your other traffic uses your normal IP.
That is, unless you access any of our supported streaming services, in which case each one’s servers will automatically receive the right IP to unblock them.
Registering for CTV is easy. After you’ve changed your virtual location to Canada, all you’ll need to do is click “Create Account” underneath “Log in with a TV provider”. This way you can sign up without having a TV provider.
That’s it! You’ve unlocked the vast majority of the CTV library.
Yes, you will need a VPN or DNS to watch CTV. Without a tool to change your virtual location, you won’t be able to unblock any geo-restricted services like CTV.

This may not be as obvious when you’re just browsing the internet, but if you’re watching a movie or live sports it can cause significant disruption.
A DNS like StreamLocator is designed to optimize the streaming experience. Due to its specialized technology, it only routes a small portion of your traffic that relates to streaming, eliminating any effect on internet speed. As well, it doesn’t require you to switch countries for each service – StreamLocator automatically switches to the countries you need for each service.
